Summer Assignment for AP Art History!

Advanced Placement Art History

Summer Assignment

June 2011

Dear Student:

Welcome to AP Art History! I am excited that you are interested in this course, as it will be a great learning experience! In order to prepare you for the AP exam for this course, I have put together a summer assignment.

Art History encompasses the entire history of art starting with cave painting from 15,000 years ago and ending with work that is created today. We look at all cultures, so we are spanning the world and all of the time periods within it. In order for us to finish the curriculum by May, we will need to get a jump start in the first few chapters. I have attached the assignment to this sheet.

If you lose this assignment, it will be posted on msmarinoheartsart.blogspot.com
You may want to explore some of the tidbits on the sidebar; you will find some of them interesting!

Please feel free to email me over the summer with any questions you may have: daniellemarino@gmail.com

Have a wonderful summer,

Ms. Marino

P.S: You will need to buy a sketchbook for this class. It should be about 8x10 or so. If you happen to find one you like over the summer, you can get it. If not, you can purchase it in September.

P.S.S: Try to get to an art museum over the summer! On the blog, there is a list of local and NYC museums, or visit one while you are on vacation! The more art you see, the more you will appreciate and understand it!
