Monday, September 19: Assignment # 5

Quiz on Chapter 2 from the review book- Part of your summer assignment

Please define the following:
Cuneiform
Ziggurat
Cella
Registers
Votive Offering/Figure

Answer the following questions:
  • What was the Standard of Ur? Describe the scenes depicted on the two sides and discuss how it is an example of narrative in art.
  • What was the purpose of a Ziggurat? What did it look like and how was it decorated?
  • Why do we think the “Votive Statues,” from the Square Temple, Eshnunna represent an early example of Ancient Near eastern religious practice?
Tuesday, September 20: Assignment # 6

Using the image Ashurbanipal Hunting Lions (2-24) completely fill out the 4S sheet and menu. Make sure you answer all of the questions fully. You may need to read through different parts of the chapter to be able to answer all of the questions fully.

Wednesday, September 21: Assignment #7
Completely fill in the timeline sheet with the most important works of art from each culture. Add any other important facts.  Use your sketchbook!
You may use your textbook as well as class notes.

This will help you review for your quiz tomorrow.

You will probably need more room, so feel free to redraw the timeline how you deem necessary.

Using images 3-8 to 3-11 (Pyramid Complex) fill out the “Box Sheet.” Make sure to include all relevant information. Be familiar with the cross-section view (3-9). Some boxes will have more information than others, and that is ok. You should be able to include something in each box.
